Paper Receipts
They clutter up your office, are a pain to file AND fade over time leaving you with tiny pieces of useless paper filling up precious space.
The good news is that for the most part, HMRC will now accept scanned copies or photographs of receipts which is a godsend to us all.
With the launch of MTD (Making tax Digital), you not only can but in some cases are obliged by law to (see our blog on Making Tax Digital and the requirements here) store financial records digitally and submit your returns via compatible software.
For the busy business person there are also fantastic apps like Receiptbank, Concur and Expensify so you can photograph your receipts on the go and they will be downloaded to your computer or even straight into your accounting software for when you return to the office – it really couldn’t get much easier than that!
